Most organisations that take security seriously have a content filtering solution deployed. These solutions provide visibility of usage and also protects firms from intellectual property being leaked whilst controlling access to unapproved content.
Generally, these solutions are deployed to corporate laptops and desktops but rarely are they applied to corporate mobile devices. As mobile devices generally have apps from multiple developers and are designed to live on the internet and outside of the protective corporate firewalls, here are a few reasons content filtering should be now seen as a must have technology.
- Mobile Cost Management
Preventing users from using non-business applications and content, as well as preventing tethering will reduce data costs.
- Preventative Security
Preventing users from accessing high-risk sites and content, reduces the exposure to risks.
- Legal Protection
Preventing users from viewing adult material and infringing of copyrights will protect the company from being held responsible.
- Data Leakage Prevention
Preventing users from uploading corporate data to sharing site ensures corporate data leakage is minimised.
The list above is not an exhaustive list but just a quick outline of some of the benefits for extending content filtering to your mobile fleet.
